Just got Dyno'ed - StripedApe Tune - Very Fat

Just buzzed over the local Dyno dude. Wondering how "fat" the fuel/air mixture was with my Rocker; since I used one of Sam's Predator tunes - the StripedApe. I knew I was fat due to the poor mileage. Now I know EXACTLY how rich it is:



As you can see from about 3000 to almost 5500rpm, she is WAY below the ideal target. I need to subtract some numbers from the fuel trim tab below. I'm just not sure "how much" to subtract and exactly at what throttle position. I 'believe" this was measured at full throttle. Looking for a little advice. Specific advice.

Dude at the Dyno offered to let me bring in my computer, and for 100.00 he'd let me use my Tune Edit to get it dialed in. That seems to be a very fair offer, especially if it is going to take several Dyno runs. All I want to do at the moment is get her leaned out a little between 3000-5500 rpm....

...my brain starts to hurt when looking at all the cells are trying to figure out which one's to select, and how much to drop them.

goes through the dyno process with tuneboy.

Going by it you should:
highlight 2500-5000 rpm range, 50-100 tp, and -2 to -3 the value to put it around 13 A/F ratio.

lower rpm range is due to the lag of 500-1000 rpm before the O2 is read.

Disclaimer: This is my understanding from the online tutorial.
 
When you did the dyno run, why didn't you make the adjustments to bring the AF ratio in to a better ratio?
There is no doubt there is untapped power there.
One thought on the torque. I know those pipes are great flowing, but I'm not sure how you would tune the muffler on it. You may need more back pressure for the torque.
I'm sure there are people out here that have tuned their bke properly to this exhast system.
Man, I'ld love to have a chance to work with that setup on my bike. Bruce would have a field day.lol

Those readings are just part of a tune. That is at WOT on the Dynojet Dyno. After you get that right, you need to bring her up gradually looking for lean spots in the other throttle positions. You get to where you can guestimate the percentage across the board but it really needs to be observed with an AFR gage and tweaked.

If your tuner can't use Tuneboy or tuneECU, you might want a PCV in line for your tuner to use. But your timing needs to be changed dwith the TB.

That tune you have is probably good for someone's bike but not right for yours. The last thing Sam or whoever gaves you is a tune that is too lean.

My recent dyno results are similar (3 K&Ns, pulled secondaries, & Sam's Preds on a Roadster), though I'm towards the lean end vs the rich end.
Can't see my map values, as TuneEdit/Boy don't seem to like my non-TuneBoy cable.

::: On that note, anyway have a spare TuneBoy cable they want to sell on the cheap? :cool:

Frank, is it OK to copy ignition tables from 4th gear to the lower 3 in TuneECU and then use PCV + dyno to adjust A/F?

Just curious. What tune are you running?

Also, messaged with Brian and he recommends (for now) the Goodfellow tune. But he (and I agree) recommends that I chase down a PC111 (beg, borrow or steal) and get it done correctly.

I am planning to head down to Wayne Tripp's right after the RAA event in Maggie Valley; it's a month away so maybe I'll wait and suffer the horrible mileage until then...

Better rich than lean, I guess.....
 
After much consideration, I have just finished loading the Goodfellow tune from this site; and installed (ugh...) the 12 diffuser disks and endcap for the SuperTrapp. Bike sounds good. Will check fuel mileage (and butt Dyno performance) and report back.
