What is the reason you joined this forum?
Is it frendship? plenty of people closer to make friends..
Is it to discuss technical support? dealership is only 10 miles away..
Is it to discuss religion? do you even go to church?? there is one in every corner of your town!
Is it to discuss politics? The world is already full of frustrated politicians!
Is it to chase girls? plenty of bars around town!

So,, why did you joined???

I decline to answer on the grounds that it may incriminate my person.

To learn about and help people with their R111's also so I can live vicariously through other people from around the world. (Yes i know I got to get out more)

Initially it was to find out all that I could about the Rocket...what I learned and the help I received enabled me to buy my 2007 Rocket III Classic sight unseen (and no test ride I might add) by e-mail and phone conversations with my (luckily) relatively close dealer in Pensacola. Some even sent me some goodies for Christmas (2006) as a sort of "welcome aboard"...and probably feeling sorry for me working over here.

And now because of more input I have from here I did the same for my new 1700 Thunderbird (unseen and no test ride...though I had test ridden a 1600 last April).

The "comraderie" grew from there.

I joined to learn about my new bike.
There was alot about it, I'd never dealt with before.
Fuel injection
computer controlled
METRIC threads & heads.....
The comradery was a bonus.

I joined up to read what was on the minds of the maniacs that live on Rocket III's and these pages. It's a pleasant escape, oh yeah, the stuff that they teach me too. Great bunch of folks really. I have purchased numerous things from members that were great to get through the classified section. Met folks for rides in places that I love. Had dinner with fellow Rocket owners. Just all around good site. I just joined TriumphRat.net and it's almost like they look down their sport bike noses at me because I listed as a Rocket III owner.

I reckon we are outlaws on our big ponies.

Hey Gothlander (VERY WISE PERSON), have you looked at the Roadster pipes to see if they would bolt up to earlier model Rockets? For some reason I just like those two big tubes and I don't care for what the pipes I have do to my saddle bags.

Funny you should ask, I was just looking at the Roadster the other day but I did not look that closely at the mounts. I would say that they would be close though and maybe with modified mounts would fit. They are huge and would probably run cooler because of their increased surface area and larger distance from the core pipe to the outer skin. I could be wrong and a heat comparison test would be in order but at least they will cause an equal heat effect to each bag. Also I think someone somewhere said the rear footrest mount is different.

P.S. I was just looking at a thread on the rat net site and was quite surprised how strict they are.

No Mexicans.....Just kidding cause I know you can take it. Been on this form since 06 and it's been an addition. I like the .com site fine, this one just seemed a better fit for me. I joined to learn more about the Roc and for the comradery. Don't see too many Rockets around here, or around anywhere for that matter.
