Hi
Okay. 1st it's a good system for the price point. 2nd the instructions are a little vague as to whether the end user decides to install the system with or without the baffles and also if the end user has kept the original air filter or up graded it. I choose to upgrade the OEM stock air filter. Now at this point the bike feels a little lumpy as it requires a re map to dial it all out. Do a standard ECU reset( turn the bike on. Fire the ignition. Leave the throttle totally alone. Do not attempt to use it. Complete 3 fan cycles and then allow to idle for 12 to 15 mins. Switch off. ECU reset done. The ECU will re learn how you ride when you go out and adjust accordingly. You may notice the odd unburnt fuel become a little smokey when you re start the bike now and again but it goes aftera couple of minutes). I haven't had it done yet as I am just still in warranty and I have MOT and an annual service due soon. The engine kicks out more heat certainly. That in turn has heated the screws/ bolts that attach the heat shield to the down header pipe and has discoloured the lacquer finish on the carbon fibre and in turn made the carbon at those fitting points go a little yellow. Reason why is the bolt spacers are attached to the down header pipe.
I had a bad experience with my customs and excise here in the UK as they ripped open the consignment to check what it was. Opened the actual packet and I had bolts/ washers/ screws missing as per instruction. Use the original Triumph washers/bolts and you can't go wrong. The original system is so heavy so be careful when removing. There is only 3 large bolts and washers that hold it in place. New Ixil system is very light compared to original. Bit of a squeeze lining it all up. My advice. Take the end can/ Mufflers off first. Fit the race collector box in position then remove rear wheel for ease of access. Attach the silencer. Re fit the rear wheel. I have the bike booked in July with one of the best known tuners in the UK in the North who reassures me that all is fine and when he has finished doing his magic the bike will be a totally different beast with much more smoother power, better fuelling, less heat, better throttle response and with the additional modifications taken into account I will see somewhere around the 200BHP mark plus on the bike give or take. Sorry for the long explanation but I would rather be honest. Since the system has been on for me it's the best looking system for the bike. The sound is lovely not quiet not overly loud but compliant with a lively deep rumble tone and makes other bikers notice. Now since I have the Limited Triumph Rocket 3R Black. This is mine all colour coded with a better look in my opinion.
