I've never been pulled over on a bike before until...

I'm an abstainer but still think random vehicle stops are unconstitutional.

At least one state agrees with you.

Back in the 1980s a group of drivers who were caught up in the checkpoints who were not arrested sued the city. The court ruled in favor of the plaintiffs on the grounds that the checkpoint program was an unconstitutional infringement on motorists’ right to privacy.

The case made it all the way to the state Supreme Court and in 1988 the judges ruled random checkpoints to be unconstitutional in Washington state.

The Constitutional Question Of Sobriety Checkpoints In Washington State

What they do is targeted patrols looking for impaired drivers on a regular basis, and publicize them in advance.

one time on the Rocket..was going 85 in a 55..4 lane hgwy going down a long but not to steep hill..flew by the state trooper that was pulled off to the side of the road hiding behind some bushes..slowed down and pulled off to the side of the road as soon as I saw him cause I knew he had me..he walked up, asked for my license and registration and thanks me for stopping right away..said he was glad he didn't have to chase me down..went back to his car, came back in about ten minutes and gave me warning..whew..that slowed me down.

...I got a rocket III. I was wondering if anyone had experienced this. It happened to me last weekend. I was only doing 70 in a 55 at the time and I was glad I wasn't caught a couple miles sooner. Luckily, I got off with a warning and the bike got a complinent.
I have had a number of incidents on my Rocket, one of the best was racing a Ninja on the 91 through Corona, heading toward Riverside. We were splitting lanes and with no holds barred, I was in the lead when I saw a motorcycle cop turn on his lights, I'm sitting there wondering if I should run and let him feed on the Ninja, when I see him pull around the Ninja and head for me!! I'm thinking the rotten dog is going for a two fer!! But he pulled along side of me as I pull over and yells at me that there is no excuse for splitting lanes at over 100 mph!! You idiots!! And then he left??? Thank You Officer!!!

Never pulled over? I had a Hayabusa for 3 years. I spent more time on the side of the road explaining to police officers why I shouldn't lose my license than I did riding it. That is why I sold the thing.

Yup..... well I had, in my much YOUNGER years, been pulled over, CITED AND warned more than I can remember. The worst was coming down from Alpine on Hwy 8 in San Diego County, decided it's 7-ish am, no traffic that Sunday morn....Cracked open the CB900 SS to see just how well the Supertrap and Dyno jet stage 3 went......144 in a 55. The CHP made their first aircraft pass of the morning......in front of me, a few miles down the road I seen ZLOTS of blue and red.....I slowed to 60.....they waved me over, quoted my speed, I was....huh???? THEN the aircraft came around, an officer pointed upward.....
Y'all can figure the rest of MY day.....
Loss of driving privilege for 5 years 2 weeks in County and 250 hrs community service.
Now, I am MUCH more sedate.....oh, I still have fun....just not like THEN!!!

I grew up in a small TN town. Everyone knew everyone else in this little town. As a kid with wheels and skirts on my mind I spent a lot of my time chasing both! I got pulled over one summer evening for street racing on the edge of town. I won the race but I was awarded something worse than a ticket. The police officer said he wasn't going to give me a citation but have a talk with my Dad! That was worse than anything he could have done. I asked him to please, please give me a ticket but no dice. I was grounded forever it seemed like and I had to drive my mom's Dodge Omni to school until I was sorry enough to have my privileges back. Boy what a bummer that was to show up at school in my mom's grocery grabber! Sad thing is that I didn't learn my lesson...just tried to be stealthy, lol. That is another story. :banghead:
