is it me or what ? [starting rough after sitting]

I've seen the "started for a short period turns oil bad" scenario myself in Germany.

My wife worked about 8 blocks from home, but it was a helacious hill, so she drove, especially in winter. At the end of winter I suspected a bad head gasket because her oil fill cap and dipstick had white milk all over them. I did an oil change in Spring when I found the issue, and started driving it to my office (further) once in a while on her days off, never had the problem again.

It's just got to get hot enough to boil water in the oil system away and then burn it through the PCV system.

it is very simple when the engine gets hot the air expands and exhausts through the vent
when it cools down the air contracts and is pulled back into the engine through the vent.
the problem is that it brings humidity back into the engine. so i would not do it on a rainy day.
i guess if i was going to start it i would try to dehumidify the garage or a least closest to the bike.

also if i was to do that i would take off the oil cap to try to exhaust the water vapors out the cap area.
and then replace it after finished.

Oil emulsion is thankfully less of a problem in deserts. But when I lived in the UK near the coast and my ride to work was only 5 miles it was a HUGE problem.

ime you need a good 10-20 miles of running to fully warm the block though on most vehicles - idle running does NOT cut it usually as there is no real crankcase pressure to help evacuate. You need to get ALL the oil really hot - including those obscure parts where oil sits rather than move.

Drawing in damp air again is WORSENED by venting the case directly to the atmosphere - so those in damp areas who maybe do a lot of stop/start work may be better off with the standard filter gubbins left in. Or buy something better suited - like battery powered.
