Pulled the gear reduction off both starters and put the old one on the new starter.

1st. The starter for 1999 Toyota Salora will work. BUT, the solenoid plunger rod has to be cut. About a 1 1/4 inch or so. And reuse oem spring due to size.

I cut mine today when swapping out the nose cone to the new starter. The solenoid plunger is dimpled to ride on the ball bearing I'm going to use a #1 carbide center drill and dimple the cut end to my new starter solenoid plunger.

I'm pretty sure that I used the old plunger, I would remember if I cut it.
My old one is slightly pitted so if needed I'll just swap them, kind of want everything new!

I ripped my big toenail off Monday so I can only stand for a short time. Today I swapped gear reductions hopefully tomorrow I can get it installed. Don't wear flip flops when pushing your bike backwards with the kickstand down, painful things can happen.

Been a few days and if I stand more than a 1/2 hour it starts to bleed. When it happened I looked down and it looked like a car with it's hood up. The rest of the nail wouldn't pull straight off I had to peel it from one side to the next. It's completely gone.

I was trying to back the read tire up on a block of wood and gave it the 'ol heave ho.

Put the starter in today but the location of the positive terminal on the starter hits the exhaust mounting bracket, the bracket needs to be adjusted to clear.
