Regardless of the capacity, you need to manage your fuel!
A station stop can be done in 5 min or less, using a card.
When I carry extra fuel, it is used by others with me who did not properly manage their fuel.
I know the tank mileage of the worst mileage bike and make fuel stops that are appropriate.

It is 4500 km from Canberra to Darwin and I ALWAYS carry water and spare fuel whether in car, bike or 4x4 driving in the outback.

Point taken though and I will fill mine from another jerry can and leave it in my luggage except for a 6 monthly fuel refresh. At least pouring into the tank will not be a problem without a funnel that those larger outlet jerrys can be. I will just leave this one with the bike always as an emergency supply and carry a 5 litre jerry on long distance trips.

They look like they would bolt up to the top of the rear tipover bars,
