I said I would never do it, but...........

Alright Zonechamp ...another darksider.
Did you or any of you get any resistance on getting the tire changed out.
My God I thought I was Ralphie in the Christmas Story movie asking for a Red Ryder BB gun.
It took me till the fifth place to find an Indy that would do it.......said it took two guys to wrestle it on and that'll be $50.00

I haven't been "head slapped yet. I may not be the fastest but often run with those up front at many of the RAA's. How many have you made? Couldn't care less if you are faster in the curves. Was that "one of the negatives" head slap a threat? Sure sounded like it with the interjection of "over and over". The only way you can impart me a head slap is if I am blindsided in a curve or otherwise. But I promise, payback would not be fun for either of us.

Yeah, great, so you eat more red meat than me. So what? It's been stated that a significantly higher percentage of RAA attendees are riding on darkside tires. That is totally insignificant, especially when contrasted with the overwhelming majority of motorcyclists, including all R3 owners that are not.

The head slap comment was metaphorical, Bubba, not an actual or implied physical challenge or threat.

There's no way that you're going to negotiate that flat-tired monster of yours through the twisties as quickly, competently or comfortably as someone with equal or better riding skills on a round tire. Maybe you forget that I've tried it both ways on three different bikes. Pushing a CT hard in the twisties is akin to riding a bucking bronco -lot's of extra rider effort is required and you'll be riding at the edge of the envelope on a CT well before someone does on a MT.

You cannot overcome or rewrite laws of physics at will, but having 250+ rwhp can certainly make it feel like you can. Conversely, even you could negotiate turns and twisties much better and more safely on a good, proper motorcycle tire. Period! You ride a CT because its cheaper - end 'o story.

Yes...As a former knee dragger on bikes like the Honda RC51 and CBR929RR I would never feel safe on my Rocket the way I lean it over in the curves. I paid 155 for my BStone 245 55 16 EMax and I can not imagine trading mileage for traction. A car tire on this bike at Deals Gap would keep me slow as a HD. Hey why not put Rocket tires on your car for better gas mileage due to less roll resistance?

I'm not questioning any ones riding abilities nor trying to change anyone's mind, but I've got pictures of my wife and I at deals gap dragging a peg. I even have scratches on the corner of the hwy pegs. And I had that tire put on up there because the OEM went slick faster than expected. So are the traction problems because you can lean father than folding the pegs? I just don't understand.

Give it up. When you accept there are those who alway think they are more intelligent, you also must accept you can never change their mind. It really makes no difference untill they start denegrating. These two enjoy irritating. To each their own.

It is all physics. It is all about camber angles and camber thrust. Cars do not lean into turns while motorcles do. I ride my bikes with a lot of camber angle and thrust. I will stipulate that I know wing owners that do Iron Butt and lots of two up dark side.

That is much different style of riding than I do and I do not know how a car tire can be subject to such extreme camber angles and still be safe.

Slip thrust vs. Camber thrust

If you guys are trying to make a road race bike out of the rocket you guys have the wrong bike, when i want to knee drag i use the Blackbird, when i want to go slow i use the Harley, when i feel girly i ride the wife's Can Am Spyder:D
Hell, i may put egg shaped tires on my rocket and dont give a $hit what anybody thinks about it:thumbsup:
I just put a car tire on the rocket because it looks manly:D

It isn't about that at all Lupe and you know it. But thanks again.
Whats the bead depth on a CT vs a MT ....or the flange width? It may look good but MT wheels are completely designed different than CTs....As well as the bead radius diff between the two. No worries....Magic prevails over physics and engineering diffs between MT and CTs.
