I said I would never do it, but...........

Hi @Dennis B.
I just read a post from 2011 where the poster said he felt more confident cornering on his Toyo car tyre than on the Metzler.
The interesting thing would be in wet weather conditions.

Me too. Much more confident. Know it won't lock up so quick under brakes. Regularly ground footpegs despite moving them up. Never had one slip in the rain. Fellow following me one way said the spray off the tyre reminded him of following a Mack truck.

OOPS>>>>>>I must not post on darkside threads I must not post on darkside threads I must not post on darkside threads I must not ......... (Forgot... Sorry.)

Thanks @ruzzle
It seems hard to believe that there would be that much grip particularly in the wet.
What tyre do you use?
Also, whereabouts in Oz are you?
Make sure you reply on this Darkside thread ;)

I had a car tire on my vtx 1800, and now on my r3r. The tire can still corner more than the bike. Also the tire's tread never leaves the pavement, even while folding the pegs in a corner. The sidewall flexes and still has a better contact patch than with a mc tire..
With all that said: Here's a pic of me and the wife chasing my son on the dragon. Picture worth a thousand words.

Wannbe said....." The tire can still corner more than the bike. Also the tire's tread never leaves the pavement, even while folding the pegs in a corner. Mouldy.... down the South Coast near Batemans Bay. Me and a mate running Federal 595 in 245/50 R16. JUST clears the swingarm.

But don't tell anybody I posted on a darkside thread.... please.

HEY!!!! 17 posts and no Art? WHERE'S ART??? EMERGENCY!!!!!!!!

You can check the pegs on most any darkside R3 and you will see peg wear. About 40 percent of all Rockets at RAA events are darkside.

from the picture your line seems to curve into the middle yellow stripes just a bit further. were you able to lean further to the right to stay in your lane?

I have ridden the dragon several times in the last few years, and have learned that staying in your lane is imperative. Yes I did stay in my lane, I didn't keep up with the cbr though. Lol My son and nephew laughed at me for trying to keep up but applauded me for the effort.
