I said I would never do it, but...........

How many miles do you have on the BEM? How's the traction in the rain? I have approximately 4000 miles in just over two months on my Bridgestone Max and its worn out in the center and the sides. I ride every day, rain or shine, any temperature as long as there's no ice or street flooding. This Bridgestone Excedra Max has the poorest traction of any tire I've used in forty years of riding. Wet traction or lack there of makes it dangerous for me. Just wanted to know what you experience with it is. If I can find the proper tire Im going Dark. If not l may try the Avon .
So far, i like it. Only put about 3500 miles, but have had no problems with traction so far. Most of my problems have been the bike itself; just recently, I believe the detent spring broke on me, but I haven't had to time to fix it. As long as I have a bike to ride, I'm ok.
Have not tried the Avons yet; figured I'd give the BEM's a chance first.

That bridgestone is so bad it is the final factor to send me to the Darkside. What if any was your experience?
WELL thats interesting how could that tire be as bad as you say when others rave about how great it is somethings wrong any ideas ?

I think your's is the first negative comment I've ever read about the exedra max? I studied all the comments and forums related to tires for the rear of the rocket and the consensus seems to be either Exedra Max or Avon, with only a very few sticking to Metzlers. I went with the Exedra Max and feel like it's a great tire, wet and dry. Can't tell about wear so much yet but I've got 5,000 miles and they don't seem near 1/3 worn? What air pressure are you running? It's the only thing I can think of that would explain what seems to be your anomaly.

EXACTLY doesnt make any sense at all

Make that 2 negative comments, i took the Max out for the same reason last year when Hanso came to visit, it was a long trip and i was not happy with the Max's performance

I did all the same research and that is the reason I chose that tire. I'm not blaming the tire, it's just not working for me. Contributing factors to my tire wear are probably the following; I ride every day rain or shine , 50 miles to work, off by 3 p.m, some days ride to Beach or anywhere, 200 mile day. Off for two days, 400-600mile ride. Concrete, asphalt. Stop n go traffic, lots of high speed highway straights and County back road twisties. I thought I rode hard until I read how some on this forum ride y their R3s. But I think I ride a little harder than some anyway. There is a long sweeper posted at 35mph , should be 50. I take it at 75 everyday. It can be done at 90. Ask me how I know? I guess you gotta pay to play. But three tires a year (and that's riding them until cords show)is getting out of my ball park. I did experiment with tire pressure and found 42psi made it more stable on curves. Low pressures felt kind of wobbly/unstable in fast curves and just a little lazy in quick change of direction maneuvers. Maybe some of this explains why I only get 27-32mpg. I'll have tell myself, don't twist that throttle, don't twist that throttle, don't twist oh $&#+ did it anyway:evil:

HUH thats just normal riding conditions doesnt sound like anything extreme so hard to say whats going on with your tire ?
