hp/torque mods and dyno sheets

I really never meant this thread to turn into a high hp pissing contest. Was hoping for what combination of off the shelf parts (air cleaner, exhaust, other smaller mods) plus a weekend in the shed with a 6 pack equals hp/tq. And if there's a dyno sheet even better. Don't mind seeing what you high hp guys can do, but not everyone has resources for a custom carpenter'ed blown, turbo, nitro- methane street driven 60 mph wife cruiser.

Not to worry bud as it looks like some people might have ate to many blue pills to understand your question. So with your goal being weekend mods. you pretty much named what you can do. filters, pipe, tune. With this the question is how much you want to spend when it comes to the pipe. You will gain more changing the complete header and exhaust. So I would wonder if your thinking 3-1 or 3-2 If it is 3-2 and just finding out that Patrick aka @albertaduke just fit a old style Jardine system on his Roadster (pictures Patrick especially the undercarriage part by the ABS system) You might find one on sale I heard of one on Craig's list down south last week from a captains post who said they only wanted 350 bucks for it. That is a good price for header and all and you will pull about 150 to 155 hp with some great sound. (triple filters or equivalent) Other then something like that or just running the TORS your looking at somewhere between 1500.00 to 2000.00 for a new complete system. And depending on the tuner up to about 165 hp. When choosing filters you will have to make up your mind as to whether you want exposed filters or not as the larger exposed filters will yield a wee bit more then triple K&N or the Ram Air Style. Also if your not going on a dyno then you will need to find a map for your choice of system which still will not be best until you put the beast on the dyno.

I hope this was more helpful to you.

I ,along with others I'm sure, just wanted to see different options. I've been lurking long enough to know almost all of the readily available options. I just got ramair filter for Christmas and have spoken to a local muffler shop that says he can fashion a custom 2" header just like the factory header and use stock shields. I'm thinking of trying this as I have a spare header w/shields I can play with. If this works then I will have completely stock look with hopefully 140 to 150 hp. If not, then I can try something else.

good choice although if they can make the header then maybe you should work a different can on it like a megaphone or something else that is open and breathes good. Of course that is going from 3-1. Personally I think a 3-2 megaphone set up will look and sound great.

I'm planning to keep stock 3-1-2 look and staying 2" pipe to the crossover then it will be straight thru with stock size like tors but homemade. Would a megaphone help? I could get megaphones and put them inside the stock pipe if there is an advantage to have them in this configuration. I'm trying to keep stock look if you couldn't tell. Lol

I will post a picture of the undercarriage asap but there is not much to see ! the pipe goes straight around behind the ABS control box and turn 90% left to mate the left muffler

I am not sure of the inside dimensions of the OEM pipe. so I could not say if the standard 4.5 inch megaphone would fit in side it but there is a company out there that makes them at different sizes. I imagine outside finish would not matter because it is in the OEM can. It really is not a bad idea to retain the OEM look yet add the exhaust performance. I think what helps the Megaphone is it creates a better pressure wave for evac. There are a few on this site like @Paul Bryant who could shed some light on this.

I felt the same way before when I initially fitted the carpenter 240 stuff but kept the stock roadster exhaust.
Totally stock look and sound, but 175 whp (gain of over 50 whp from stock config).
not exactly weekend work but just so you know

You will make the most power with a 3 into 1 exhaust and its also lighter no point in running 2 or 3 pipes unless your stuck on that look
