How to Install Triple K&Ns Under BearClaw

The stock maps are the same way. The needs of each cylinder are different. For example Cyl 2 is going to run hotter since it is in the middle.

I suggest you google these terms and do some reading. It will help your understanding of the limitations of the R3's fueling.

Ok... I have the R3 service manual. I do need to learn more about how this stuff works so I will know what I'm doing. lol
 
I uploaded 20355 KN WITH TORS.HEX that I found on here using TuneECU before my 320 mile trip. The O2 sensor has been bybassed using the O2 optimizer. I had NO decel popping and by looking at the tune it is apparent that the tune is richer than any tune I have used...so I think I'm rich enough now after installing the K&Ns. I already have the TORs. The only problem I having with it is the tune acts funny "sputtering" off idle but other than that no problems. Any advice on the matter?

Does sound rich, ride it a bit and check for carbon on the exhaust. Probably plenty rich enough now for triples.
You can check the plugs as well, I know that's a pain in the ars with an R3 but it will tell you rich or lean from the color.
Me, I'd see how dirty the exhaust gets and then clean them up when I install the triples and see how fast the carbon comes back. Of course a proper dyno tune is optimum but it's whatever you can afford or have access too that counts. If the exhaust isn't popping on decel and blackens with carbon soot quickly, you can assume it's rich enough.

Running rich won't hurt the engine but over time the plugs will foul and it may run poorly at low RPM so you don't want to leave it that way forever. Triples should help lean her out.
 

Gosh I missed your post .. sorry about that.

I ran the K&N tune (above) for a little while then tried the Jars tune. The Jars tune had NO decel popping but wasn't very snappy. It made the bike fill luggy. I have recently re installed the K&N tune and it is much better now. It now has a little bit of decel popping but nothing that I cant stand. Id rather have the power it has now and live with the popping another words. I assume the Jars tune is just way to rich for my bike.
 
Why remove the O2 Sensor ?

Just got what I need for a K&N mod. I don't know why some threads show removing the O2 sensor.

What if I leave mine as is?

Are u going to tune the bike via tuneboy or tune ecu? If so u can eliminate the sensor in the program but from what I understand if you load a custom tune to give the bike the extra fuel it needs to cope with the triples and don't eliminate the sensor the ecu will eventually lean your bike out again so it needs to be eliminated . I'm sure someone else with a better understanding than me will chime in soon and either correct or confirm this

Hi! Installed K&Ns last spring. Question about air temp sensor, what to be expected if left under tank without it being in airflow?
