How I fixed my High Idle and low speed stumble issue.

HeR3tic fixed my high idle problem a LONG time ago with his Tuneboy and it just started doing it again 2 days ago. Can I just turn it by hand until the idle goes down or do I have to have a tuneboy hooked up to it? is there a way to use a voltmeter instead? The high idle thing is dangerous and embarrassing at a redlight...

This might help. If it keeps returning you might have a bad tps sensor.

I'm inclined to agree the TPS sensor is bad. I'm also inclined to believe the TPS sensor was bad from early on. The necessary voltage had never been achieved in my instance. I have an imbalance in throttle bodies as well but the ecm can or is said to compensate for a less than 10% difference.

I get a gripe when values stated in differences are are unlike those that TB spits out. I too have a major gripe when a product of the caliber of TB is not well documented. And details are impossible to acquire.

Now that I've reverted to an earlier Tune the high idle has dissapeared by the low idle has me worried. I have to rev it up at stop light and crossings to assure an unremarkable take off. At one point it's too high and now it's too low.
It's a conspririacy:eek:

Yes, it may be the TPS sensor at fault...i suppose.

After putting up with the high idle issue myself for 3000k, trying every fix (ie. Tuneboy voltage adjustments, different tunes, cleaning sensors, etc.) in the book and having it looked at twice by a Triumph tech who was loathe to recommend a replacement TPS, I finally went with my gut and ordered a new TPS and had him install it. She now runs like a dream. No more embarrassing red lights or puckering sphincter on bends!
