How far do you take it?

I have over 125,000 miles on standard fuel, and I am getting 38mpg on the little US gallons quite regularly. That's about 45mpg on real gallons. I recommend, as does Triumph, using the cheap stuff, but you do whatever you want.
 
By reading this I guess I can stop running 98 - got me converted
 
I wish I could find Nev's article lets try @Neville Lush so he might see this and refresh us. I might have took it wrong but I thought the point was this is the difference when you run a different octane fuel then the engine is timed for not the higher octane fuels are crap. Or Visa-versa.

When I bought my Rocket I just opened the book and read what octane they recommended !!!!!!!!!!

Once you start messing with the bikes maps then well its on you to make sure the timing is right for the fuel being used. You can run a SC on 87 octane but she needs to be tuned for that type fuel.

Be nice to have but I am not going to buy an I Phone or Pad. I like my Galaxy S5. Maybe they will come out with an Android version someday.
 

I always try to use Shell gasoline. In Michigan Shell is actually Sunoco with Shell additives. I have used all 3 grades at one time or another. I never use spot market fuel.
 
I will say that my bike runs stronger, smoother and gets better economy when I can find pure 93 octane with no alcohol.
 
using the search function I found.... http://www.r3owners.net/threads/fuel-octane.19907/ . I run 95 BP in my ute. It runs better, it is more economical to run 95 than the 91 as it goes 40-50kms further on a tank. Not relevent to the R3 which does not have the same sort of ECU, but fuel DOES make a difference. Compression ratio does not determine octane needs alone. Cranking pressure and compression ratio are different. I struggle to understand why one would put the 91 fuel we get here into anything, it is filthy crap.. Everything I own runs badly on it, flat and unresponsive. Each to their own.
