HIGH MILEAGE ROCKETS

It seems like the TPS is a problem for many. Has the factory ever fixed that? What happens when the TPS goes bad?

In my case the idle seemed to, "float" around, but most striking symptom is bike didn't celebrate when you roll off the throttle, which makes one's ass hole pucker when slamming into a curve and the bike doesn't slow down like it should when you roll off the throttle. The replacement TPS is different than the original, but I don't know exactly what is different.

I am really surprised. Figured mileage would be higher given the year of the bikes. Have pic of Harley 2010 Fatboy on thread with 84,000. Rocket X bought in Oct has 14,500 miles showing. Thought by the way you all talk mileage would be much higher. Good to know nothing major at 50,000 plus. Has there been a upgrade on the detent spring?
.

There is bound to be less high mileage Rocket 3 bikes than Harleys. There is probably three or four hundred Harley Cruisers sold for every Rocket sold. Still there are some Rockets that have super high mileage and most likely with less problems. There are way more owners cruising around the country on Harleys than any other bike so there are bound to be way more high mileage examples to hear about. Most motorcycle owners occasionally get to ride on some long journey but not very often, thats just the way life is. Many owners have more than one bike which will keep the totals on each down. I notice that no one has worn out an engine with high mileage.

lets do this again. 1987 Honda shadow 125,000 miles (five years) 1992 Goldwing 175,000 miles (five years) 2005 Bonneville America 159,000 miles (five years) 2010 Harley Fatboy 84,000 miles (five years) The Harley had to be rebuilt after 55,000 miles. The last long ride I took was back in 96 Norfolk V.A. to Oklahoma. I do ride a lot back and forth to work. I love motorcycles and ride every day. Got a 2013 fiat abarth bought new in 2013 that has 15,000 miles on it. The Rocket bought in Oct. Has 14,500 miles on it (getting the Picture Here) Some folks are real slick talking or writing and have real nice comments but if you walk the walk that is a good thing but if you just talk the talk that is bull****. I at times like your comments but at times feel like that maybe your riding more on ego than facts.

The fact is you ride more than most. Riding motorcycles is not a contest about who can ride the most miles. I been riding 60 years and have NEVER ridden as many miles as you in those short of time spans. YOU WIN and most likely you win over most other riders. I'm positive there are others that beat your mileages but not the majority. I don't ride every day because of choice, I do ride anytime I feel like it. I don't know of anyone doing real slick talking and not walking the walk, is someone lying about something on this thread? I started it to see how reliable these bikes are over high mileage not for one person to think he is better than another person because he rode more miles. Maybe thats his only form of transportation. Maybe he doesn't have a wife and kids he has to haul around. Maybe he just wants to save on gas. Maybe he loves riding so much that he hates to go anyplace unless he rides. Lots of reasons to ride big mileage in short times. By the way I'm not saying I don't have an ego but I haven't misstated anything about my riding because of it.
