Hesitation at 2000 RPM (with Tune ECU questions)

Update: I have tried multiple combinations of items. I am now simply going to try replacing the secondary TPS. The stepper motor obviously works because I have watched it move the throttles open and close. In addition, I have started the bike and watched the secondaries open when I rev it. At this point it's worth a 1 hundred dollar gamble that something is wrong with the TPS.

Manually its really easy if you have the secondaries installed. Otherwise reach down in the throttle body grab the shaft and rotate it open. It will have spring loaded tension on it. After you rotate the shaft fully the you insert the secondary tps. The shaft is spring loaded so after you insert the tps hold it while you release the secondary shaft. You can also start the screw before releasing the secondary shaft.

The only thing that's different here is that my secondaries are not spring loaded. They open freely with the bike off (and stay open). Once I move the ignition to "On", the stepper motor closes them and then chatters once they are closed. I tried gently pushing on them to open them when the bike was on (not started) and the stepper motor resists opening them. I obviously was not going to force them open.

question #! when the upper plate is closing which way does it turn?
#2 when inserting screwdriver into sec tps and fully spring loaded what direction does it return?
#3 when installing sec tps did u have the sec plates fully open?
#4 r u using tunecu to get 4.15 volts?
#5 if u remove sec tps while plates r closed was the sec tps spring loaded?
if u have the wrong tps it is not going to do any good to put another wrong one on.
i am getting the idea that u may have the wrong tps or u r not getting it installed correct.
by answering the 5 questions i should be able to figure out what is wrong.

Although I originally installed the primary TPS I purchased 2 weeks ago in place of this (secondary) one, through the help on this forum, I realized quickly that it was in the wrong place. I then replaced the bad primary TPS with the new one and set the proper values with TuneECU.

I then reinstalled this secondary TPS unit (longer leads) and this is when the fun began...

Interestingly, since I last fiddled around with this yesterday (I just installed the triple K&N filters), I took the bike out for a run and the secondary throttle was working pretty well. When this problem first started, the bike would sputter when going Wide Open Throttle. It ran much better yesterday at WOT. Although the CEL light remains on. I can clear the code in TuneECU, but after starting, the code comes back.

A week or so ago well maybe three I was working on my clutch while helping Mark on his. He is the one who told me there was a little spring in his. If he held it shut and set the secondary TPS to 0.6 volt when he would cycle the ignition it would rest at 0.7 volts . Not sure if you pulled your ducting (most of thd thread it seems like you were avoiding it) but if you did not you might want to see how it acts at .7 volts resting shut.

Warp, I tried getting values in TuneECU with the throttles open and closed, but once I turn the bike to "on", the stepper motor does its thing and automatically closes the throttles. By the time TuneECU initializes, the throttles are always closed. With the secondaries closed, the voltage values change about .15 volts (ranging from about 4.15 to 4.3 volts) as I move the secondary TPS through its adjustment range.

Ya that aint right closed should be .6 volts plus or minus .02 volts if yours is showing 4 volts I can see why there is a high voltage error code.

(don't carve this in stone) i think that relaxed it should be around 4+ volts and when loaded u should get around .6 volts. now if that works u can compare with sec shaft to figure out what to do

I'm confused hear about the relaxed. When the bike is on and in neutral the secondaries are closed oe almost closed hence why triumph has you set them to .6 volts while pushing them closed. A fellow captain noticed that afyer doing that when you cycle the ignition they are at .7 volts unless you push on them. Therefore I got to belive you should not see 4 volts or higher when the biggers are closed.

yes i agree with this that is why i wanted him to pull tps off (after first sweep) to see if tps is bad or tabs on shaft r in wrong place or sec motor gears striped.

i was referring to when he takes the sec tps was off of throttle body setting relaxed it would read (on tunecu) about 4+ volts. but like i said i would not carve this in stone but if he follows my advice we should find out.

i guess i should explain what i am thinking i think that the primary tps and the sec tps works in a different direction so by putting the primary tps on the secondary i believe that it either mess up the sec shaft or the sec motor gears. being that the sec motor only comes with the throttle body it is going to be expensive so i think that u should try to make sure instead off guessing.
my way of thinking if it is a one hundred dollars put it on if it is a thousand better do a lot of checking.
