Also in the picture i attached do you think there is a typo (in red) in the 31018 map warning. It sounds like it shouldn't be used in any region. Or are there more regions?

Thus, you’d be using the correct base map for Oz but with Penner’s most recent tables. Note that with the OEM maps, all of the tables are the same for the R and GT across regions. You will be fine with Penner’s US R tables.

Australia is in the Argentina/Indonesia/S Africa market so 31023 is the correct base map. If you want to get a Penner unrestricted tune, you should get the latest Penner tune for the R from the Tuneecu.net site and copy the tables from it into your 31023 map. Yes, and the base map 31023 is for your vin and region. The OEM fuel, ignition, throttle, etc tables for the pre and post av5457 are exactly the same! Penner’s unrestricted tunes for the post av5457 vins are more consistent and make more sense than his earlier maps, which contained some errors. That’s why I prefer the tables from Penner’s newer tunes.
