I've tried on pretty much every popular brand and have to say that Shoei and Arai are stand outs. I agonised between the 2 but eventually went with a Shoei XR1100 because it fitted my head shape better. I found the Arai just too close to my chin for comfort but I can tell you, there's nothing that I've tried that's even close to the comfort of those 2 brands. The XR1100 is the most comfortable and quietest helmet I've ever had. Most important thing is that whatever you have, it fits properly. Having a big size on your helmet doesn't mean you have a big dick. Get the one that's a size smaller than the one that slips on easily.

I currently wear an RF1100 and like it just fine. The vents are good enough for all but the hottest weather which I have never found a cool enough helmet when the temp climbs into the 90sF.
I tested the older RF1000 in a bad get off and it held up very good to three big impacts off pavement rocks and a boulder. I was wearing the RF 1100 when I hit the deer, didn't even scuff the paint as I slid across the grass.
Shoei has discontinued the RF1100 now so you should be able to get a good deal on the leftovers. Everything I hear about the replacement RF1200 sound good, a little lighter, more comfort they say.
Hope that helps...

Love my Arai but doesn't offer the flip down shield. If you had a long oval head - the Signet-Q will blow your mind with it's comfort and fit.

I love my Signet-Q as well but as it has been said evryones head is different in shape it has to feel good to wear it or it will just sit on the bench or you will hate long rides

The Shubert looks interesting too. The Laser Monaco may be wet in heavy rain by the reviews. Not had that issue with the HJC.
I don't think it makes a big difference on what helmet you wear as long as it's DOT approved and meets your criteria. With all the helmets on the market today it does get confusing. Visability for me is the deciding factor my eye sight isn't what it used to be.o_O

Arai and Shark are the only two helmets I was completely comfortable in.

Currently wearing this and am fully satisfied with it:

I'm using a Nolan N90 with their bluetooth and it works well. I only use it for a bit of music though, not for communications so I'm not sure how well that part of it works. I didn't install the mic in the helmet.

I was going to order the Nolan N104, but luckily got a chance to try them on. My head is like Charlie Brown's, kind of a massive round thing, and the N104 was uncomfortably narrow for me while the N90 was a good fit. So even helmets in the same product line can fit significantly differently.

I have used a Schuberth for years but tried a Nexx XR2 at this spring's motorcycle show and it was the lightest helmet I have ever held. Seemed to have excellent ventilation but does not have all of the "bells and whistles" like drop down sunshade. I ordered one, but it has not come in, nor is it warm enough to have tried it much here yet.

Resurrecting an older thread . . .
Has anyone used the new Schuberth M1 open face?
I'm lusting over this one - like the drop down eye shield and ratcheting chin strap.
