Hello from Tampa Florida

Well, got her home yesterday. The good points; a blast to ride, very comfortable, looks great. Not so good points were oil over the left side of engine after I got home. Leak or overfill by dealer? Either it gets really poor mileage, or it only had about a gallon in. As soon as I get the oil cleaned up and check the level I will go fill her up.
Will have to get used to the handling, my turns were a little wide, even from a stop. Ride was a little harsh, but the back shocks can be set on 2, instead of 3.
Things I noticed on my ride home; lots of bikes on the road, almost everyone waved, esp the Harley riders.
Few riders that ignored me were on sport bikes. As soon as I left the dealer and had to use US19 I passed an accident, and of course it involved a bike. My wife who was following in the car was not pleased. Good news was everyone looked OK. Time to get with it, so will try to get the oil problem sorted.

Well done and welcome X-man. Another X joins the forum. Wonder if we'll ever get all 500 on here?
Don't forget to check the oil filling procedure in the manual as you have to run the bike first before checking.

Assaid previously, take it easy especially as you haven't been on the road for a while. There's plenty of power on tap.

Hey X-Man...good luck on keeping your wife pleased. Mine is still miffed at me for my Harley purchase back in 2006. I didn't inform her I was going to buy a bike. I hadn't ridden in many years and she thought I was "over it." So, one day I tell her she has to drive me over to Tulsa, OK (we had a home in McAlester) to take delivery on my bike and she hit the ceiling. That was totally uncalled for. Anyway, my R3T is the second bike after the Harley and she still hasn't forgiven me. When ever she sees or hears of an accident involving a motorcycle, I get a lecture. And, her sister is an emergency room nurse who gleefully passes on bike wreck info to her sister which, of course, ends up as a lecture to me. It's lucky for her that she's beautiful, smart and hard working or I would just divorce her.

My wife is a mc hater also. Did the same move as you but I got her brother to drop me off at the dealer, that really pissed her off! Like I always say better to ask for forgiveness than beg for permission! Did the same thing with a boat years ago also! Break um in one step at a time. Plus she knows if I ask and she says no I will go right out and get the most expensive one!

So cleaned her up, checked level according to manual, and everything seemed fine. Took a short ride to the local airport cafe in Lutz to grab a bite, and then back home. Not a drop of oil on the engine. Must have been a sloppy oil top off at the dealer, and the hidden dribbles behind the oil tank came out on the way home.

My wife actually was supportive when I said I wanted a bike. Today she even mentioned she would like one if it wasn't so **** big (as the Rocket). Am I lucky or what !! Every bike I passed today waved, love that. Bikers are a great group of people.

NY. Wasn't able to ride her. Like opening presents on Xmas day and not being able to pl

Will be picking up my new Rocket tomorrow (unless it's raining). Glad to find an owners group as good as this one. To say Im a little excited about being on a bike again would be an understatement.

Yes indeed - A lucky man.... That "oil leak" was more than likely an assembly oil or shipment protection - as many new owner site the same experience. So nothing to worry about.
The Wife might like a new Bonneville or an America.... Just ideas.
