Welcome @David Dailey. From one of the Aussies.
I recon if you have a 2005 you won't have a roadster, most likely a standard if painted ALL black.
Sounds like you most likely have a bad connection or a bad solder joint somewhere.
Do you gauges come back after turning the bars left to right (whilst stationary with engine running)?

getting back to the issue start by checking the connectors leading to the gauges and apply Dielectric grease to all connectors, I have had a gauge suddenly stop working and it was the connection in the back of the gauge, It was dry, clean and showing no signs of being a bad connection yet it was
