I will not lie to you guys, joking a bit for sure but this is true I swear. It was an older guy on a Sportster and we had 200 miles on the day and just past the apex of the trip. It was a bit much for a couple of the more senior riders. When leading know your group.Say it ain't so, that's impossible, your fibbing, in 40+ years of riding I have never heard of such a thing.
I keep explaining to my students, that once they get comfortable riding their bike, since they are learning on ours, (usually a day or two) they can be two paths to a given location, the direct route that will as an example, take 1-hour and then the indirect route, that goes up and down, and curves all around and takes 4-hours, they will be taking that 4-hour route every time. I have students that I have met up at meets or that come back to the course and indicate that yea, they always take the long way
Be sure too click that link I posted about the SR32 out of Cosby TN south of Newport. It does turn to gravel at the NC state line so we always ride back down after a lovely stop at the top. I doubt the Rocket would ever get out of second gear except, down to first. It really is a bit intense and not much of a relaxing cruise. It is devoid of traffic.
