I'm with Lofty Bob! Let the wife lead. Less hassling all around - you can't be blamed for getting lost, not signaling, not braking in time, leading poorly, blah blah... but if you can't keep up then that's your problem. 
I think your wife might be judging the lights based on daylight conditions. At night the stock taillight is plenty bright if you ask me, but if you want more options go here: http://www.customdynamics.com
All you need is a little imagination and some wiring skills and you can put most of those products to work on any machine. You could install LED strips all over your bike if ya want and look like a rolling Las Vegas. That'd probably settle your wife down. :lol:
