Well over 100,000 miles on 4 different models. Regular maintenance, no problems. Maybe its a karma thing.
SO you put over 100,000 miles on 4 bikes so what did the dealer charge you to lube the drive train ? they charge 3000 to $3500 here

The classic double sided swingarm R series had grease nipples, at least mine does and a sump plug and filler hole for gear box and diff.

3000 to 3500?? A monkey could take down a BMW drive shaft. That's the beauty of the old boxers. All you needed was a set of wrenches and a three legged stool. Had one K-bike among the 4 twins and it didn't have any drive shaft issues either. From those I knew the LT's were the most prone to have problems.

But hey Art, there's a new thread about a Suzuki. Lupe's waiting to be told what a crappy bike it is.

HOW strange look it up on line they want big bucks to service the drive train I was a KAW dealer and we had several that we traded that had problems and failed one R90 S sheared the flywheel off the crankshaft all the bolts broke that was a real mess as you can imagine

Yeah, I wouldn't want to deal with that. But, I sure wish I'd picked up an old R90S when they were going for peanuts. Hard to find a good one these days. They were a great design for their time, but as with any new design, there can be teething problems. Old air heads are very reliable bikes, but one needs to understand what they are and what they aren't. They aren't appliances. When the Hondas arrived expectations really changed. My first one was a Honda 50 in the early '60's. I had no idea you had to check the oil until it refused to start. Filled it up and off it went, couldn't kill the d@mn thing.

Can totally relate to the fact that certain bikes just stir an individuals soul. That's the exact reason I bought my Daytona 955i, triple wail at high RPM gives me goose bumps every time I hear it.

I love the sound of a big bore Twin as well, just not an HD twin.

Tis why I still have my V2K!

I sits n me shed lookn at my r3, across is me bro`s Harley fat boy lo,n I thinks y the f/ck would spend$28k on a water pump??? they have never done it for me/////RABBIT:thumbsup::laugh:

I just sold my r80 converted to 1000cc to my buddy who was nostalgic for one he owned 30 years ago, and I have an r65 with a sidecar for winter riding that, with a marine battery in the side car, starts at 15 F, both are 1980, for the time, I consider them near bulletproof.
