It's better than their previous designs, but it still lags behind the metrics...they need to go with full liquid cooling for one thing...and they're making a big deal about the new 4 valve per cylinder design that's been around for decades with the metrics...
 
I don't think any of the metric v-twins even register in Harley's thinking, much less different configurations like Triumph. Harley exists in its own bubble. When they talk of increased power they are talking to the Harley faithful who will only compare the motor to previous generations. To the majority of them other makes exist for the great unwashed. You can throw all the horsepower numbers, torque numbers, quarter mile times, or any other measurement you choose at them and all you'll get is a glassy eyed stare. After all, you're not talking about a real motorcycle, so what's the point?

Its kind of like talking up a Ford to a lifelong Chevy fanatic. He'd rather sell his first born than drive a Ford.
 
The feeling a rider gets from his motorcycle is the same today as it was over a 100 years ago. All the technology in the world won't change that. My Harley communicates to me in ways my Rocket never will.
 
I like that Saddleup....its all about the connection isn't it...Guys who Ride Harleys love them for the way the bike makes them feel...so do R3 riders...so do ducati riders ...so do.......................and so on....LETS RIDE!!
 
That is an interesting point. Of all the bikes I've owned I kept being drawn back to BMW twins. I'd sell one, buy something more powerful, get bored with it and buy another BMW. Happened several times and if I buy another bike it will likely be another BMW twin.
 
Can totally relate to the fact that certain bikes just stir an individuals soul. That's the exact reason I bought my Daytona 955i, triple wail at high RPM gives me goose bumps every time I hear it.

I love the sound of a big bore Twin as well, just not an HD twin.
