I had EZ Brackets on the original R3 bags and this worked fine, except that the backing on those bags wasn't rigid enough.
With the large cutout, the Slimbag is a pain but you could mount a rectangular aluminum or plexiglass spacer between the bracket and bag and attach the bracket to the spacer if you can't get a purchase on the bag with the bottom of the bracket.
I made a pair of brackets like Battersea's, only not quite as good looking, from a bit of metal bar. It only required some hacksaw work, a bit of drilling, and a bit of filing, then a quick coat of black paint. It allowed me to move the pegs about 1" higher and 2" forward which solved all the problems for my passenger.
I have since changed passengers and the new one doesn't need them. It has proven to be a better option.
I was there on Friday checking out the R3R. I sold my 2005 R3 last year and got a T-Bird which is now 1700, all through Freedom. It's a perfect fit for me but is underpowered compared to the R3, which you could say about nearly everything. To get the R3R to fit, I'd need the old foot mountings retrofitted, which they can do, a Corbin dual touring seat with backrest, pushed forward one inch, since the Longhaul isn't available for the R3R, and ultraclassic pullback bars. May happen, may not.

I saw that R3R the matte black with white stripes, very nice!
I ordered the Longhaul for my Roadster, the dealer said it would fit
Guess I'll find out next week.......
Those guys at Freedom seem pretty good, I'm gonna bring my bike up there to have the TOR'S put on, since I can't do it in CA.

That's interesting to know about the Longhaul on the R3R. others have asked. I really like that seat. Freedom is good people and they know what they're doing.
