Hard on wear items

Pads are cheap. Tires expensive, for the most part.

Every part on the bike is cheap, compared to parts on the human body.

At least you are keeping on top of it (maintenance), which helps to reduce wear on important parts. And again, those are not on the bike.

If you wants to ride hard, you gots to pay the price. But, hopefully not the lesson my son learned. 55 mph on a HARD double S turn on a reducing radius? The most technical piece of road in this state.

This is what a head looks like, post surgery, after they peel the skin down over your face to install new metal parts and screws to rebuild an eye socket. Bone fragments did not quite penetrate the brain.

Dislocated shoulder, etc. Physical therapy. Concussion.

Oh. Rear pad was to metal.

Ride hard, but like your life is dependent on it, hone your skills and wear dependable protection. Give your bike that special attention it deserves.

Those tires are cheap at twice the price, never mind the pads!

Just read that EBCs come with less pad material depth than stockers. Not sure if that's true, but I think I'm going to try Brembo SC front and SP rear pads next. Supposedly long lasting with rediculous grip.

There's a difference between beating on and using full potential. I wouldn't call my riding style beating, more, using to its fullest.

Totally agree that pads/tires are a worth expense, I'd much rather pay 600/season for all new pads and tires than ride questionable items.

If I only wore out tires and brakes, I'd be soooo happy! I'm on my 3rd set of cases, crank shaft, and connecting rods. Mechanic keeps spouting some BS about the R3s oil system isn't made to do wheelies blah blah blah...
Fairly certain that's my problem right there :) I drag the rear quite often.
Tires and brakes tell the story about the rider and his riding habits OUR friend CRACKHEAD JOHN can burn up a rear tire in less than 2000 miles and he blew the con rods through the engine case of his HYABUSA WOW hes a special case hes the worst Ive seen LOL

I do not ride my Rocket X like a sport bike. Yes I enjoy the torque and power and soon will be experiencing even more of the same with Ramair and paul's exhaust. Even so I am a very cautious rider and my insurance payment proves that. I do like to run her a bit fast at times but only when I know it is safe. Taking a corner at a high speed is fun but that does not make you a good rider what does is riding a bike a lot of miles per year and still be able to keep the sunny side up. Continuing with such good fortune year after year is a sign of a good rider. Doing my best to get the point across without passing bad luck on myself. ;););););););)

Very well stated and best wishes to your son and to his parents.
Must have been a horrible ordeal for you parents as well!
Just curious, but do you have a pix of how his helmet looks?

The helmet did its job. The polycarbonate shield dented. He cut a concrete post in half, apparently with his head. Maybe 5" in diameter.

Lower part of flip front broke free. Polycarbonate visor dent is where eye socket made contact.

That sucks. When I was a puppy was riding the grapevine in California under snow. First wife on the back of a 750 honda and off we went. Three Hells Angels rode past off like there was no tomorrow. Suddenly Traffic stopped and much to my surprize when we were allowed to move again all three were in body bags on the side of the road. The biggest one out of the bunch had no face,No nose, no cheeks, No face at all. From that day on have worn a Helmet.
