Handlebar Speakers

Was looking to get some music going for those long rides on my 08 Touring. Started looking around and found a lot of options. The Kuryakyn sound of chrome, shark makes a set, cycle sounds, and pyle...just to name a few. Was wondering if anyone could recommend or warn me off a particular model. Was thinking of running a power outlet to the winshield bag to run my phone/mp3 player and connecting my speakers to that. Without a power outlet my phone/mp3 player would be drained after a couple hours. Looking for something with decent sound and that will hold up to the rigors of riding. Thanks for any suggestions.

Ive got a set of chrome "Rumble Road Ultra Amplified Stereo Speaker System" I bought from somebody here a couple of years ago. If you want them, I'll box them up and send them to you. You can pay me what you think they are worth. Seems like I gave around 2 hundred for them? Dont remember.

Custom molded ear plugs with built in monitors are the best way to go. Protect your hearing and much clearer sound, especially at highway speeds.
 
Stripes the Rumble Roads were actually one of the ones I was looking at. Did you not like them? Currently using ear buds but after a 4.5k mile run last fall i decided speakers would be nice ears were hurting a from the buds after the first day.
 
I never put them on. I decided they would be too much stuff in the way on my handle bars.
 
Get a Sena headset for your helmet and bluetooth it to your phone, you can listen to Pandora all day. This is what I use and works great, even with ear plugs in.
 
I had a set of pyle speakers and an amp on last bike and thought they were pretty useless. The radio on the amp quit working almost immediately and I could never get any decent sound from the speakers.

I went with a Rumble Road set this time round and am happy with them. The amp is built into the speakers, and the sound is decent and loud. I also bought their crankcase volume control, makes it nice and easy to adjust the volume on the fly with heavy gloves on, though it is one more thing to clutter the handlebars.

No matter what you get, still can be hard to hear at highway speeds with a helmet on at volumes I'm comfortable with, but these are loud enough to be heard if you don't mind killing your ear drums.
