Handle Bar Speaker Systems

I do about 30k every summer on my bike. I usually just pack my ear buds. However, I'm ready for something a little better. After riding two or three 800 mile days, the ears and the butt are getting tender. Now, about that grenade launcher???:D

I can't have a stereo system on my bike because the marbles rolling around in my head is loud enough! Duh Huh!

To Mully, Scot and Canberra...yeah, yeah, yeah...yadda, yadda, yadda...whatever. I've been on plenty of long trips, some with a stereo and a lot without one and I way prefer to have the "option" of turning on some tunes for my own personal enjoyment to break up the trip somewhat. I do enjoy periods of silence but after 400 to 800 miles at a time I start wishing the trip would go just a little faster and usually turning on a "good" stereo hits the mark.

Personal preference and all...I like having the option.

I do agree to some extent, at which time I go for the iPod, usually when I'm sick of the song in my head that's on some annoying continuous loop.

I installed the stereo 2 years ago and used it a few times, when the new wears off you don't pay attention to it anymore, havn't used mine in like forever:)

The sound of those huge three cylinders is all the music I need, anyway how slow do you need to go in order to hear those speakers. If you want sound would you not be better with a blue tooth system to play an i pod or the like into a helmet mounted headset, or have I got totally the wrong idea.

Oh....now everybody gets religion...:D.

Captain Jack...I kind of know what you mean but, personally, I don't care for the earbuds or blue tooth as the music is almost too good as, for me, it shuts out pretty much all outside noise which, again personally, makes it a little too unsafe IMHO.
