Air cooling alone means you have a very hard time building anything like that. It's so much less efficient than water cooling that the engines have to be built powerless. And if you're actually trying to meet strict emissions standards also, yeah, good luck with that one.

First time I heard that Harleys have to shut down the rear cylinder in stop-go to avoid it melting into a metal puddle in the street I just went "no effing way" but apparently it's true.

But yeah, the Rocket motor is basically not tuned at all at 140 horses. By the time you blow $15 grand on HD parts for performance, you can blow $10 grand on the Rocket and have 150 hp *more* than the resulting Harley...
 
The rear cylinder cut out on the Harley's is nothing new. It has been offered on the Police specials for years known as the parade mode. At idle the rear cylinder will shut down, Touch the throttle and it immediately kicks back on. Very good sense when you consider the design of the bike and how much hotter the back cylinder runs as compared to the front cylinder.
 
Yeah, having a V engine mounted in that orientation is just silly. The only manufacturer I know who does it right is Moto Guzzi.

Anyone over the age of 45 may use all or part CAPS anytime we goldarned feel like it, croft. Mature people know when others online are angry or upset, regardless of the the case or grammatical style employed. The rest of you kids can adhere to your often ridiculous PC internet protocols for etiquette.:p
 
Haha, not so much the etiquette as the fact that it's really hard on the eyes to read.

I do it sometimes because of laziness but also I think its easier on the eyes if its all capital letters. I can't see why you would think its easier if its smaller. I also don't know why you think its shouting, its a visual thing, shouting is a vocal thing.
