Hi All,

I did a search and couldn’t find the specific answer i was looking for so apologies if this has been covered.

I did my first weekend trip away on my 2020 GT and as always a 500km day will quickly highlight any ergo issues. I am running boots as most of us do, they are solid but by no means huge MX style boots and i can just get my boot under the gear lever to change up at the moment, which is fine. The problem is with the standard centre forward control setting, i cannot get enough ankle articulation to get my foot above the shifter to change down which means I am having to lift my leg to do a down change. Its fine for short rides but on a long day my left leg was killing me. My concern is I cannot adjust the lever down much or I will then struggle to get my boot under the lever. I am sort of between a rock and a hard place and figured i cannot be the only one who has had this issue?

I think i may have to look at using the forward or rearward adjustment to give me the range i need but wanted some input before i go through the process. Will forward or back solve the issue? Does this sound familiar to anyone else out there?

I am 6’3’ with size 13 dogs but i need to find a solution as it isn’t working for me currently.

Any advice appreciated.

I have a similar problem but mine is the opposite of yours. I was having trouble getting my foot under the shift lever. I had to move the pegs to the rearmost setting which in turn moved my toes downward allowing me to get my foot under the shift lever. I still had to raise the shift lever a bit using the linkage adjuster to get my foot under the lever. I only have a 29" inseam so moving the pegs makes a considerable difference in the angle of my foot. Moving the pegs forward should help angle your foot more in the direction you need to go.

Thanks for the response SEPFJ.

I think you are right in your thinking. The current position sort of puts me in no mans land. I know its only 25mm but that can make alot of difference when it comes to ergonomics. I will try forward and see if that gives me more of an usable angle with some adjustment.

The beauty of the high level engineering of the Rocket is thankfully we do have options.

By the end of the second day i was seriously considering mid controls!

I'm currently trying to get the rear suspension sorted out and if I'm successful then I think the mid controls will be next on my list. The forward controls force me to lean back some which also makes the reach to the bars a bit of a stretch due to my short stature. It's not much, but I've ridden the R model and I think the more upright seating position along with the GT bars will make the ergonomics just about perfect.

Like you said...thankfully we do have options !!!

I moved the controls forward tonight. Great design by Triumph, it took 10 mins total and that included getting the extension from the toolkit and never having done it previously. Angle is definitely better as i think the shifter will still need to be lowered slightly but i definitely have more room for adjustment for downshifts without affecting my upshifts. I will test ride with boots and fine tune as needed. Just hoping it doesn’t reduce cornering clearance too much.
