Greetings from Ukraine.

Spirytus rektyfikowany, aka, Polish Everclear or braindeath in a bottle!!!

Hey, Scott, whatever floats your boat! Some prefer the jackhammer to a velvet sledgehammer or, in my case a fine and dainty balpin hammer.

Dealer's choice...
Only if you over indulge Phil. other then that there is nothing wrong with good sipping refreshments you just don't want to over do it? OH and a good ball peen hammer does not have a metal handle

Well i have to disagree there Mr Warp in regard to "If it dosnt have a cork it aint worth drinking"...you see, i make Whiskey, bourbon,Brandy, Dark Rum honey bourbon, Barley moonshine, corn moonshine, Parsnip wine, Elderberry wine, strawberry wine,Black Currant wine and Cranberry wine.....None of them are corked!...I havnt had a bad word said about them ever!...i make the lovin kind and the laughin kind!....lol

That almost makes us brothers.

Rocket brothers! Sounds like a good name for a cheesy superhero/mob flick.

I make moonshine too. Always double distilled, charcoal softened. Usually leave it for a couple of weeks in bottles filled with smoked oak barrel chips. Fast and cheap ageing alternative.

Favourite rums: Diplomatico (Venezuela), Don Papa (Philippines), Dictador (Colombia) and Rumbullion! Navy Strength.

Whisky choice depends on the current mood. I usually prefer Speyside treats. Something like Dalwhinnie 15 y/o. However, I can indulge myself with Octomore or Caol Ila when I feel the urge to sip from a peatbog.

Dunno if it would be appropriate to show off my collection of booze.

Looks real nice Mr Warp!..I find the "Hearts "of my shine best around 100 proof (50% ABV)..
I use maize, which is also called corn for shine but there is a commercial grower of barley half an hour away who grows/makes all sorts of brewing barley...makes a beautiful shine. I use a traditional copper still,80 litre capacity. It has a shotgun condenser and parrot also all copper. I designed and made it myself with help from drawings, pictures and reading stuff. Its legal here in NZ to make it but you cannot sell it without having a licence to do so. I share it with family and friends. My grandfather and uncle who have passed on used to make it so its traditional.
I make the wine by the 50 gallon barrel because it ages best in wood. Some i store in 60 litre glass carboys too.
I'm always looking to experiment and improve. We have had the odd session in my wine shed which made a few guys walk sideways i can tell you!
To go commercial as i have been urged to do would set me back a huge amount and there are no guarantees its gonna take off so i prefer to keep it as a hobby.

Ya as the doctor stated he does not like bourbon I am guessing he has not tried the good ones yet. 100 proof is enough its more about flavor. to be honest I do not partake much any more except special occasions which are most RAA events. And I will not drive when partaking. I'm in the south right now in the old days when I was younger we would have what we called southern comfort 2 shots of Evans Williams #8 80 proof and one shot of Ice cold Pepsi to sweeten it up a little. Something to sit on the porch and sip while socializing
The truth is there are only two types of alcohol that I buy and that I am given !!!! And their both pretty darn good. Heck I only give people sheet when they offer me a lite beer because at 150 lbs I am not to worried about calories

My only remaining uncle will be 90 in november...He remembers my Grandads shine and my uncles shine....as i mentioned, theyr'e both gone now God rest em...With the progress in yeasts etc since then, he rates mine pretty high saying "Thats bloody smooth young fella!"..i really get a kick out of that. He drinks the shine straight...big mouthfuls too. Said he couldnt get his feet in his pyjamas one night! had both feet in one hole!
I like it straight too, but at 100 proof, you gotta take it slow!
