Goldwing is out

As for the owners...what a pretentious, pathetic, money grubbing, social climbing bunch of wankers!
imho - pretty much all "clubs" are prone to this. They become a religion for some. But the Wing owners have gained a particular reputation. That said, in a lot of Europe the Harley guys are not far away. Anything Single Marque will breed bias and eventually bigotry. I simply do not play well with others.

When I consider the fact that the Roadster with me on it weighs over 1100lbs, the reality of the torque hits home, and thats just me! Some of you boys weigh alot more than my humble 247lbs (dressed in my gear!!).....so i guess when we ride anything less, the grunt just dosnt measure up.
Makes it hard to settle on anything less huh?

I had a 98 Valkyrie for almost 10 years and loved the bike. A little hard to start in the cold after setting a bit. Got bored with it. Then back to a HD Fatboy for 5 years. Wanted something different so... on to the R3T for the last 5. Not sure what my riding friends truely think about it. I think they are bewildered and wonder...why. Still love the Rocket ride and waiting to see what future production might bring for the bike. I love the Roadster, so cool, but bags and floorboards are a must for me. I did sat on an Indian Chieftain in a showroom last week. Not the ugly retro fenders and it has a trimmed down fairing. Loaded with some nice bells and whistles. With a stage two setup it could be a good choice. I was surprised to see it still had a cable clutch. I could see owning one of those, but I haven't ever done a test ride so I might be disappointed.

Who am I kidding...my wife isn't going to let this old man buy a new bike.. rocket or otherwise...unless... Going to check my lotto ticket now....curses... only one number. Then again she told me in no uncertain terms I couldn't buy another bike in 96 when I bought my Kawasaki Vulcan A10. Hmmmm

I have a friend with a 'Wing'...we go back 40 odd years...He loves his cos he does a lot of touring...club meets etc. His wife enjoys the comfort too.
Not for me but what the hell?. suits his needs.
Met a guy in the pub car park yesterday. He has a new Indian Chief Vintage. He tried a Speedmaster 1200cc but his wife has arthritis in her left hip and the speedy cramped her up. The salesman said he could take the Indian out for the day and when he returned he was sold. The wife loved it too which helped i guess. Nice in black with tan seat and saddlebags. Not me yet tho.
Short arse.

On one of the many occasions that my Rocket was in the shop I was given a BMW Kt1600 as a loaner for a week.
As soon as I pulled up in the driveway that day after getting home I walked in and told my wife hell no I hate that thing!

However after a week of riding it every day I did learn to appreciate some of its finer amenities and attributes. Would I ever buy one? No way, but I no longer hated it.
