Gearbox/clutch drama

"I am just fixated on the large gap between fourth and third gears on the output shaft."

It does look like that front gear has moved forward

While we are on the tranny subject what does it mean when sometimes my bike is hard to get into first. I have to click down multiple times before it goes in. Not all the time either.

Ok, I'll ask the obvious stupid question. does the clutch cable have too much slack in it?

I am thinking the opposite if thats the circlip I see in the picture. Thats why I mentioned to him to look and see if the third gear side came off. I cannot see it from the angle in the pictures.

I would definitely check the shafts for runout in the event any pieces made it through any of the other gears.

I'll post some more pics as I go...Unfortunately NOTHING moves or rotates .. she's locked solid, there's smashed teeth everywhere.

The slide hammer you are talking about is in the manual I've got which I think is 2008/9. It has a threaded collar that attaches to the threaded end of the shaft then you screw the hammer into the other end of the collar and tap the shaft out. I'll probably have to make one.

Big thanks to my local dealer who gave me the alternator removal tools on loan. They said they've never seen a smashed 3rd/4th and have only ever replaced 2nd on rockets (about 30 replacements all up and I don't think there's more than 100 rockets in Perth???)

I won't have any time to continue work on it until the end of the week but thanks for you interpretation so far. I will torque the output shaft nut just to see if it's loose...but I don't think it is. My bet is circlip as you and @Rocket Scientist have mentioned

Trying to upload a short mp4 but unsuccessful at this stage

I am no transmission guru but seeing carnage like that, I wonder if something by way of debris wasn't flying lose in there?
