That what happens when she's stuck in 5th and you have to get it off the highway from a standing start without any help...

...I have to say I was pretty happy with the strength of the clutch, I held about 2500rpm and just pop it about an inch or two at a time. I got greedy and thought that because the method was working well I might have been able to get up the trailer ramp ... and that's when the smoke came out ... :(

Does anyone know if individual fibres are replaceable or am I up for a whole set?

Clutch fibers and steels are comparatively cheap....go ahead and get a whole set. You can probably polish up the steels but gee, used is used...get some new ones.

Yep will replace the set. Gotta say the rest are in pristine condition for 45k km, although I'm not one to ride the clutch out at take off I do ride it pretty hard most of the time.

My biggest concern at this point is did any of that swarf or even the larger chunks of metal make it through to the engine.

Am I correct in assuming the sump screens catch it all before the oil pump picks it up and circulates it through the system? I haven't pulled the oil filter off yet but when I do I will cut it open and see what's in there.

Screens filter first then the oil pump send the oil to the filter before heading to the crank via drilling s and channels in the block. Only thing that does not go in the filter is what blows out the pressure relief valve. so your probably alright.
