future of Rockets

Hey Ed,
You asked if anyone's heard anything...well I have. This past November when I was hunting for my Rocket, I was put in touch with a guy who was supposed to be the guru dealer of Rockets and he did seem to be "in the know".
He told me, "IF I was you, I would wait and not buy the R3T because something big is coming very soon in terms of a Tourer." He continued on to tell me how impressive it was going to be and so on but wouldn't tell me how soon. All he could tell me was it was a cruiser that would way outshine the R3T and that I should wait on buying one. Well, this November it will be a year so...hmmmm. But that's what I heard.

You have to remember this is not the 50s or 60s when Triumph was the big boy on the block, now Triumph is a minnow in the bike world and with the Rocket being such a niche for use of a better word in the bike world I for one cannot see Triumph spending all the money it would take on R&D to develop a goldwing wannabe.
I could be wrong and hopefully Triumph will do it but as said it is a wait and see game.

Victory Cross Country Tour $21999.00
Triumph Touring $16999.00
Just prices pulled from the internet but for the 5000 bucks you would save over the Victory you might be able to convert what you want plus buy an extended warranty, one good thing you do not have to touch the engine as the Victory can not compete with it.

Once again it all comes down to price Triumph tries hard maybe sometimes to hard to keep the bikes affordable to the average punter, BMW has always pushed for a higher class cliental

I like the high strung Italian Stallion. I have been in touch with about 6 different Gold Wing dealers across North Carolina. A used Wing with 50,000 on it is still in the $16K area but with a driveshaft that lasts on average to 180,000 miles and they d have a dealer and parts network. I still like the Guzzi though, especially the "Coke Machine" model as it was called here.

YES, I know the oil filter is internally mounted but for $369 I can get a kit to move it to external.

I love my Rocket

My Rocket is the first Triumph I've owned, I bought it because it was different from all the other bikes available. The Rocket is not a mainstream bike and that is what attracted me to it. The same certainly cannot be said about Harley's or Victory's or BMW's for that matter.
I understand it came with it's own set of problems, that can be inconvenient and **** frustrating at times but I accept that because for the first time in my long riding career I am riding a motorcycle that I love, and if the **** thing breaks I'll fix it.

With that said I love the look of the new Guzzi! And if I can ever afford it it'll look great in the stable..........next to the Rocket
