Several year ago, when I still had my Viper, I used to get challenged occasionally by sport bikes. They would walk away from me from a stop, but when speeds got serious I usually prevailed. A combination of horsepower, aerodynamics, and pucker factor usually had the bikes giving up the ghost when we passed the 150 mark. I'd bet I was considerably more comfortable in the Viper at 150+ than you were on the R3R. I saw a bit over 140 on a sport bike once, didn't really want to do that again.

Disclaimer: closed course, no animals harmed, don't try this at home, yada yada yada...
VIPERS are easy pickins for the modded Rockets and open class sport bikes that are setup correctly as they are capable of turning quicker and faster 1/4 miles that any of the VIPERS or factory muscle cars unless your talking about absolute top speed

You must be stripped of all luggage and shields and weigh 120.
Mine does 175 on the dyno - not close to that in the real world.
Pushing 140 out on the highway while tripping with panniers and back bag is about it for me. :(
Its a Roadster with no luggage and a fly screen. I did that run last year on a day that was around 65 degrees or so. I am 5' 8" and I was about 195 lbs I think. I had my Corbin solo seat on and I wear a full face and tuck under the fly screen as far as I can. My son stays on my left and when I am maxed out I wiggle my fingers on my left hand and let off the throttle. He marks the speed with his GPS. I rode his bike at 168 the same day and got that sick feeling in my gut like I was paralyzed on the edge of a cliff and had to slow down. He claims he has run the ZX10 to 186. Honestly that makes me sick to my stomach too. We have run the track days at Thompson and New Hampshire in the past but have never seen those speeds due to track layout and conditions.
I cannot condone any of this type of street riding to my kids any longer as we had a friend killed last year running from the police. It was an awful experience for all of my family and our riding friends. I have 3 boys and they all ride dirt and street like myself. We have a daughter as well but she only rides a 4 wheeler. And my wife rides as well, so as the Dad or leader I have to show more constraint on the street and that is super tough. Especially when I am alone.

Vipers are not made for drag racing. Our World Challenge car would easily beat any bike's times on the tracks we raced. You don't shave with a machete, you don't drag race with a Viper.

Thanks for the great reply!

No, what I was saying Art is that a Viper is not a drag racer, in any form.

I owned two Vipers, my business partner and I owned a total of 5. One was a World Challenge car. Three of the street cars we owned were moderately modified and made 500-550 horsepower and were capable of 185-190 MPH and totally street legal. One of our street cars had a built engine and made considerably more horsepower than our World Challenge car. The WC car was of course subject to frequent inspections and dyno/weight restricted. That street car, just like your modified Rockets was a beast. From a 50-60 MPH roll on I could walk most street bikes.

I won't challenge you on your knowledge of building bikes, but I do have a small bit of experience with Vipers.

YES we build street bikes that will run 7 second 1/4 times and run over 200 mph speeds so 50 to 60 mph rollons with a 700 hp bike as you can imagine you dont fear anything on the street period but these bikes are not for the faint of heart and are total overkill and you need a perfect road to unleash the beasts

Spent a day on a new FZ1 back in 2007.
One terrific motorcycle, great handing, smooth and faster than greased lightning!
The ergos were a b-i-t-c-h on my knee and hip after a day riding or I'd a surely got one!
