Kept the good experience coming Rick, i enjoy reading this type posts as much as I like teaching the unsuspecting a lesson, unfortunately this being a small coastal town none of locals want to be embrassesd again but I have fun playing with the tourist sport bikes on the Mtn:D

Absolutely not trying for sarcasm. I do love to hear other stories.
1 week after I got my roadster I raced my nephew on his cbr 600rr. But I told him only to 60 mph. He couldn't believe I was 3 bikes ahead every time he tried.
I was messing with you. Its fun beating the rice rockets though isn't it?

Reality is a good thing for those who have never ridden a sport bike and think they can easily beat one on a 11.5ish R3. It can keep you from making a mistake or do something foolish. There are a number of cars prowling the street that will destroy an R3 once they get rolling. The R3 is pretty weak once you approach 100mph.
There are several 400 Plus HP factory and modified cars I wouldn't racer for $$$$, But I disagree on the speed completely. I had my R3R at 152 according to my sons GPS on his ZX10. I wouldn't have a problem doing it again to prove it either. My R3R only has the K&N and a tune I did last year when I first bought it and it has plenty of legs left after 120.

I live in a small town on Cape Cod too. I need to do my fishing on the mainland or down Cape to find the unsuspecting haddock and cod.

YES we had a guy on a stock classic race 2 of the fastest sport bikes in the area from a stop light over and over and he kept beating them everytime as they where stock wheelbase and height so the kept doing wheelies and the ROCKET beat them both 4 times it was very entertaining
Thats what I like to hear.
Why not assume the best @Rick Morris ? Life is too short to go looking for wrongs.
I am not looking for anything Sir. Just making sure we are clear.

Several year ago, when I still had my Viper, I used to get challenged occasionally by sport bikes. They would walk away from me from a stop, but when speeds got serious I usually prevailed. A combination of horsepower, aerodynamics, and pucker factor usually had the bikes giving up the ghost when we passed the 150 mark. I'd bet I was considerably more comfortable in the Viper at 150+ than you were on the R3R. I saw a bit over 140 on a sport bike once, didn't really want to do that again.

Disclaimer: closed course, no animals harmed, don't try this at home, yada yada yada...

Really difficult to do that east of the Mississippi these days. Just a little envious.

Back before they'd put you *under* the jail for such foolishness, as a high-school senior I had three classmates in the car with me -- I was on a real mission -- military induction physical at a base 60 miles away -- the other three were just along for the ride.

Speed back then was determined by timing mile markers -- got pretty at dividing elapsed time into 3600 in my head for MPH. We averaged on that trip -- oh yeah -- it was a vanilla 1969 Pontiac Firebird convertible with a vanilla 350 V8 -- and it would float at 120 MPH - anyway -- we made that trip PDQ.

I can't think of anywhere -- in this state at least -- I'd even be willing to try with the Rocket.

The nice thing about the Viper was the seats, stereo, AC and of course the horse power. I can see how you would be comfortable at 150 Plus.

We have a few nice stretches of highway we can rip between shifts. The road is new, flat long and wide. I am not saying this is safe at all. But it is a rush. By the way my first car was a White 68 w/ blue interior and black drop top, 326/350 tranny. I loved that car.

You must be stripped of all luggage and shields and weigh 120.
Mine does 175 on the dyno - not close to that in the real world.
Pushing 140 out on the highway while tripping with panniers and back bag is about it for me. :(
