I was following the thread on replacing the fuel filter and I have several questions. First of all I have the touring, but I don't really think that makes difference. For those of you have done it, do you have to completely remove the tank or can it be done just with the tank held up by the support rod? What type of clamps hold the filter on the hose...are they pinch/crimp style clamps that you need to remove/replace? Do you normally need to replace the tank gasket as part of the filter replacement? There are two fuel line banjo gaskets the manual says to throw away...does it use like a crush washer on the fuel tank banjo that you need to replace since they can't be used again?

I more than likely would have a tank gasket and the banjo washers on hand before starting the job. I wonder if I need to order the clamps as well or anything else along with the filter? I get the after market filter as recommended.

It's probably easier to siphon tank empty and remove it. However I used a couple bungee cords hooked to the sissy bar and the hold down bolt hole on the front of the tank. The banjo crush washers, just reuse them.

Did my standard recently. Take bike for ride and burn off most of the gas. A gallon left inside was OK for me. Buy 2 new banjo bolt crush washers from your Triumph dealer. They have to be a certain size. Buy a Mahle KL-145 from Amazon for about $15. The tank gasket is reusable. Torque nuts from the center out.

+1 for new banjo bolt crush washers. Unsurprisingly, my dealer didn't have the washers in stock, so I reused the old ones. Torqued to correct spec, the banjo fitting was leaking fuel when I turned on the fuel pump. I got the old washers to seal by overtorquing by 10%, but definitely spend the couple of bucks on the washers if you have to order other parts anyway.

What about the hose clamps? Any issues?

Yep, that banjo fitting needs to be really tight, and you need patience to get the pump in a roadster tank.

New hose clamps come with new filter

if you buy from triumph? Mahle KL 145 doesnt come with them, ime at least.

OP the banjo washers are aluminium but copper will do just fine, M12 and about 1.5mm thick. do you have the manual?

Nah, I went cheap & bought Wix, came with new clamps, but I didn't even use them.
BTW, when I took my tank off, the person that had it before me (or a mechanic he paid) only had 1 banjo washer on it & it didn't leak WTFork!
