Jay; the bike works a lot better with the RamAir. Plus you can just slap the BearClaw on without cutting it. You are going to loose mpg/range but it is worth it.

Why do we loose range when putting on Ramair? Is it just because the tunes on tuneecu sight are conservatively rich to protect engine?

Had to pull it off to undo the throttle cable
Need to get it back together for the New year ride
If I switch to the k n filters what else will I have to do

Jay- there are a bunch of write-ups on how to do it (easy) with instructions. You'll also need a filter for the air temperature sensor and the crankcase- it'll be in the posts. Check out this one...
K&N Filters

Yeah, agree with @sonny and others- no way I'd try to put that back together, plus you'll have much easier access to change plugs and do valve checks and adjustments.

Just say no to under seat or under tank air filter!

Speaking of frustration, my buddy texted me yesterday stating that his bike was back in the shop for the third time and they messed up diagnosing grinding noises.

I asked which shop and he says ‘Cycle Stop’.

I say ‘Oh $hit, my bike is there now and I was waiting on a call to discuss what work was to be done other than replace the leaking valve cover gasket and do the 20k valve clearance check.

I think I’ll call and cancel and bring it somewhere else’

Then he sends me this picture!!!!! WTF

What part of “Call me to discuss and agree to what will be done before you start” didn’t they understand????

I called them immediately and the girl said the service department was closed until after Christmas and call back Thursday. AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!!!

I think what Rick originally said was "lose mid-range", not range?

No he meant range as in how far between fill ups

Jay if you go with the k&n’s you will need to get a filter to cover the air intake temp sensor and one for the crank case vent, so you will need 5 filters.
If you go with the ramaire it will come with the extra crank case filter and the AIT sensor will plug into the back of the ramaire so it is a complete kit and fits under the claw easily.
If you have stock exhaust neither of those filters is going to improve performance much, if at all because it can only pull in as much as it can push out. The only benefit will be the convenience of not having the stock air system in the way.
Also if you make either change of filter system remember you will need to load the appropriate tune

Take a wee or even a big drink, all they have done (going by the picture) is raise the tank which requires the seat to be removed, now come Tuesday it might look a lot different hopefully not:eek::D
