Front fender?

Thanks,

Its been unchanged for some time now, if I ever get the time I have some new ideas, gettin the itch .........

Lonnie

I'm actually putting some small chrome bits back onto my bike .. chrome is the new black after looking at all those all black Roadsters .. time to change a few things like you said.

have some one shorten the front fender about 3 inches.

I used a M109R front fender, gets rid of all the trim as well as the chrome fork protectors all in one!

That looks awesome. Where's the pointy bit under the radiator from?

You do have to make an adapter plate for the front two bolts on each side, but well worth it IMHO.
Hope this helps.

Hi, this is Georg from Germany. I like your modified Suzuki fender very much. Before purchasing a Suzuki fender I would like to know how this adapter plate looks like. Is it difficult to produce it? A pic would help.
Thanks in advance for your kind reply.

Georg,

I don't have any pictures as the plate is hidden behind the fork guard part of the Suzuki fender. It has been some time since I made the adapter plates, but I do recall that I made them from 1/2" thick black plastic plate, (called Nylatron here). I simply countersunk the bolts in the original locations on the plate so the heads are below the outside edge of the adapter plates. I then drilled and tapped the plate with holes that aligned with the Suzuki bolt pattern. I do remember that the bolt holes are very close to the Triumph holes on the two bolts on the front. The single rear bolt on the rear on each side requires you to trim about 1/2" off of the boss on the fork lower, no other modification is required for the rear bolt.
Hope this helps, if I get a chance I'll try to get a pic, but the bike is pretty packed in for winter right now.

Lonnie,
thanks a lot. I think your description will help. Will right now look for a plastic plate that fits

Have a good time.

Lonnie,

I got a Suzuki front fender and tried to adapt it to my Rocket. It worked fine as described by you but I noticed, that the clearance between the fender and the front tire is just a few mm, maybe 2 or 3 mm. This seems to be too little as the tire will expand at high speed and will probable touch the fender. Maybe this is of no importance at typical low speed as in the US, but at top speed on the german autobahn this effect could become dangerous.

On your bikes pics the clearance seems to be better. Maybe due to the fact that you ride Bridgestone tires with less radius instead of Metzeler?

Regards, Georg
