I just received the front engine guard bars and I noticed that to install them the upper bolt needs to be removed. This is the bolt that supports the engine to the frame. Has anyone who may have installed these bars had any issues with the motor coming out of alignment when removing the top bolt or do I need to support the motor with my sears M/C jack?
Done this 3-4 times in the past. Lift the bike right to the point that the front suspension is unloaded right before the front wheel leaves the ground... I use a long socket extension to push the rod out by hand. If it binds up adjust the lift up or down to give it clear passage. Then mount the crashbar on the side that the bolt came out off and push the socket extension back the other way with the bolt...

Thanks for the quick reply. Would the sears m/c jack under the motor do any damage since im only using it as a support and not to lift the bike entirely?
Just don't go to far back the rear bar on the sear needs to line up with the frame mounts that have the holes in them, you do not want it resting on the starter motor or exhaust assembly. Bike will come up in the front prior to the rear but like you said just to support the bike upright. It's nerve wrecking but she will stay upright...

Thats what I needed to know. Thanks for that info. I have an adapter that was designed for my old bike, a Yamaha Venture. Im going to look at the lift points on the R3 and maybe fabricate a support bar for future use from that support bar.
I have an old Rocket, back when the rider still controlled the brakes . I'm not sure if it will clear the abs or not. It passes through the area formerly occupied by the cat box. From what I've heard that's kinda where the abs unit is now ?
I have that lift. It picks up my Rocket OK. I go under the engine from the right side. I just add a length of 2x4 towards the back. That balances out the weight enough to get the back lifted high enough to get the wheel off.
The left crash bar on mine was vibrating like crazy on mine today. Stopped to have a look and the bar is snapped off at the top mount.
Must of been a Monday when it was made.
