Last week I was visiting my family in Idaho and my son-in-law has just picked up a Polaris side by side. An RZR Pro XP. It has a water cooled turbo-charged twin cylinder engine putting out 181 hp. That motor powered us up some pretty steep and long inclines with no trouble at all, even accelerating up steep hills! And that's with 4 people on board. I was impressed.
I started wondering why Polaris (who owns Indian Motorcycles) doesn't use this motor in a bike. Why can't we have a 200+ hp motor in a comfortable cruiser? The current engine is just 925cc and could easily crank out more power.
Instead of having two very similar cruiser lines, the only difference I see is one is powered by an air cooled V-twin and the other with a water cooled V-twin. They seem to compete against each other. Convert one of them to paralel twin, forced induction power?
