Well I pick up my new (well nearly new) roadster 2013 on Friday morning.
I can't wait but really don't know what I'm in for.
I know it may seem crazy but I've never ridden or even sat in one.
First one I saw was in a car park 5 years ago and said as soon as I can afford it I'm getting it.
Dealership didn't have any and with working 7 days I don't have time to find one that does to test ride.
Just wanted to say hi and thanks for all the threads posted about your bikes. It was because of this site I decided to just do it.
My current ride is a BMW r1200c that I've loved for many years but is on its last legs.
As I don't have a car license if I don't like the ride I'm screwed.
Hope I made the right decision and ill let you know on Friday...

I bought my R3 Touring without even seeing it (from a dealer, new, so I wasn't taking much of a risk). The first moments were a bit strange coming from a smaller bike to one where your legs go straight out (dramatic overstatement alert) to wrap around the engine, but didn't take long to get comfy. As long as you don't convulsively give it max throttle you'll be fine. Congrats.

I did the same thing, I hadn't ridden since I was young, then kids, life, etc. When we decided we were getting bikes, I decided to buy my last one first. I took it real easy for the first 1000 km's to really get the feel of it, then I upgraded my tune, and now everything else seems so small to me, and the beast is part of me now, enjoy it, have fun, and do research on it, you will get asked a lot of questions about it on your travels, people stop me all the time, or even wait by it when I stop somewhere so they can talk to me about it.

Can't wait to hear what you think of the bike once you've got a few miles on! I was terribly intimidated going from a Kawa Vulcan 900 with about 60 hp straight up to a R3R. I thought it was love at first sight, but I didn't know what love was until I rode it for the first time!

It's funny, I was at the local dealer and he had a Triumph Scrambler there. A perfectly normal-sized bike and it looked like something I could put in my pocket. I think my sense of scale has been skewed.

Welcome, Moon flyer. Just be gentle on the throttle for a bit and you will become accustomed to the Beast quick enough. If she is your only ride, comfort may become an issue, as for many the Beast ain't. Time (and miles) will tell.
