Welcome from Germany. The 1200s are the dominant bike in these parts and great for what it's designed for. But you will not be disappointed at all moving to the rocket! As it sounds like your only mode of transport you'll break it in quickly and become adjusted to that throttle (be careful, it's attached to a size 15 boot that will kick you in the a** if you twist on it too hard!)

Personally I don't think I would have purchased the Rocket if I had test rode it first. My first ride felt big, heavy and cumbersome. It took a few hundred miles to feel somewhat comfortable with it.
Sometimes to this day I'll have tinges of regret getting such a large powerful motorcycle... Until I ride it, then it all becomes clear.
What personally surprised me about Rocket ownership; is I'm not much of a speed demon so I thought that kind of power is wasted on me, but when you have 2 Harleys following 2 crates, taking their sweet time; a handful of torque on the Rocket quickly puts EVERYBODY behind you. Effortlessly.

Mate id gamble that you'll be pleasantly surprised how agile such a big bike can be , hopefully your in a position like me and find yourself having to ride her a couple hundred klms a day on the work commute , good luck

Yep, didn't have any time to post anything once I got her.
Went down to pick her up with my old man (so he could take the stock pipes etc back with him in the ute). All I wanted was to jump on and ride off.
Luckily my dad gave the bike the once over and noticed the nails in the back tire. Air was leaking nice and slow out of it however tire was fully inflated... Makes you wonder how the shop didn't know when they picked her up the day before.
Anyway once it was patched there was no time for foreplay as I had to be in Sydney for work so it was straight onto the highway...

I never new such a boring road could be so much fun.
While I expected the power to be extreme I didn't expect it to come on so smoothly and the confidence she gives when cornering was incredible.
It's been an extreme week with extreme highs and now I have an extreme bike that seems to fit extremely perfect with everything else.
I'm a happy man.

I know everyone has their own opinion but you might want to save your pennies for a new rear tire to replace the patched one in the near future. Folks have ridden patches for 1000's of miles with no problems while others have had problems rather soon after patching (me). Just a word of caution...that great big beautiful girl can become a real b!tch if you suffer rapid deflation on the rear at speed. Enjoy the ride...

Great to hear for first ride was a good experience ..depending on how many k's tyres done /tread that's left .. I'd be keeping a real good eye on it ... see you at RDU in October
