This is interesting. I assume you’re using the Penner and stock All Markets R tunes (31018). First, Penner didn’t change the L fuel tables, so up to 4% (F-L switch) throttle grip, there’s no difference. Above 4%, it’s using the F tables. Penner added between 3 and 7% fuel to the F tables from 900 to 4000 rpm between 2.4 and 41.7% grip throttle. However, in the A/F table he lowered a block of values from 14.5 to 14.1. I believe this keeps it from going into closed loop (uses the O2 sensor to lean it out) in this area. By lowering the A/F with no closed loop, you’re increasIng the fuel delivered by about 3 additional % or more. But there’s no change to the fueling above 50% grip throttle. There’s also no change to the ignition tables. There’s no change to the rain mode etv1 table. For road mode (etv2) he made it more sensitive down to low grip throttle %. For sport mode (ETV3) he made it more sensitive down to 11.8% grip throttle and the most sensitive at WOT and near WOT. This is where you get the 170+ rwhp. So if you’re looking for low end smoothness, I would suggest using the stock 31019 tune, but with Penner’s ETV3 table copied into it so you can use sport mode for racing but road mode for putting around and cruising. What do you think?
