First ride on a rocket what were your impressions

My first impression was lots of torgue and smooth, linear power. Also I remember thinking that it handled and stopped pretty well for a big bike.

Mine was a gift from my wife...delivered to the local pub. Drove it home before the beer drinking started. Rode many bikes over the years and none compare to this beast. Mine being a rocket touring the biggest thing I notice was holly crap I'm going 80 and feels like 45

I bought mine without a test ride. I had never ridden a Rocket.
My research, particularly on this forum, convinced me the R3R was THE next motor for me!
@HansO convinced me that BLACK was the BEST & fastest color.
@mexican convinced me that he knew nothing and was NOT the R3 Guru!
@nolton said, "F*ck! Not another Yank!"
@sweettennbabe said I was a full O' Bull Dam Yank!
@TRIIICK said I was nuts to want apes on my R3R - so I quickly cancelled that idea.
@STRIPES told me to paint a parking lot on the black matte paint.
@CanberraR3 told me to bend over and he'd help me out with my choices!

SO, not wishing to look sheepish in front of the sales and mechanic personnel that were there watching my maiden departure, I gave it a fair amount of throttle with a rapid clutch. When the rear tire squawked, on my inaugural take off, I KNEW I was astride the correct motor!
When I had to leave Sport Bikes due to old age and creeping decrepitness I reckoned the days of riding motors that I was in awe of were over.
I be very happy to admit, I was WRONG!

uh-oh!
I see f-u-k has been recently censored - WTF??? :p

Pretty darn cool story, Duk!
Not sure what you mean by "marque"; however, most of the motor mags chose the 2004 V2K as bike of the year over the Rocket.
Oh deary me! So you do need the Oxford dictionary definition, Little Bill.
NOUN
a make of vehicle, as distinct from a specific model.
Now stop drooling and wipe that egg off your face.:whitstling::whitstling::whitstling:

Well all right then, Lunger (Duk), I'll be your huckleberry!
You said, "It so happened that the marque of the year was Triumph"
What I be trying to say is that it was not, the V2K was.

I keep thinking of cutting the heel bit off, never use it. Have you found a different gear change as replacement?

Thankfully, the R3 Touring heel/toe has the heel section bolted on, so you can just remove it. No idea how it is on yours.

I had to remove the heel section on my touring because of constantly putting my heel on the lever and changing up ,especially dangerous when accidentally selecting neutral at lights when the green light appears ,also to get sufficient clearance for my boot under the lever I had to rotate the lever on the spline to the point the heel lever touched the foot board blocking the change into 3rd and 4th gear ,size 13 boots don't help either ,I never liked heel and toe levers on bikes anyway,
