I remember having a similar experience when I bought my 2006 Rocket and thought it had an oil leak - it turned out to be the cosmoline they coat the engines with in the factory to protect them during shipping.

That cosmoline is an anti rust grease which is applied for shipping on new bikes. It can be stuck in hard to get to spots. You may even experience some smoke and a burning/hot smell until it all disappears...which it will after getting the motor hot a few times.
It does run down the block sometimes which can cause some concern when you first see it.
