Yes there is a seal. A BIG seal. It's the black circle, just outside the center spline piece.

Have you tried to remove that? I have not.
Now... when I drained mine the first time it looked like it had been needing change for a looong time. It is so easy to change and it takes so little that it makes no sense not changing it with every motor oil change.
Make sure that it is not overfilled as that will cause it to leak when ridden. One way to overfill it would be to fill the oil, rotate the wheel, which will cause the level to drop as the oil moves around, fill again, and repeat the process a couple of times. This is the voice of experience.

All good suggestions, and not trying to start a pissing match, but I always overfill mine, as they hold such a small amount. By overfill, I mean I fill till it's running out, then give it another good squirt, and quickly put the plug in. NO LEAKS. The first 2 I had replaced I had not touched, they were as they came from the factory. If the vent is not clogged there should not be any pressure trying to force the oil past that big seal. Heck, you might even be able to do the "seal clean" thing, like can be done to fork seals. Run a thin piece of plastic (coke bottle etc.) around that big black seal, and the metal flange it seals against, I'll bet that would fix it! Look up fork seal leaks

after looking at the pics i would say to mark the aluminum piece with the six bolts and take apart very careful then check the seal in addition to what i have already listed the seal should have a sharp point where it meets the surface it rides on now if this surface is flat it is going to leak when it gets hot. when u put a new seal u want to put some light weight grease on it.
for the aluminum piece if it has a gasket u can make one out of a piece or card board. if it is an oring or similar then u can use silicone. on a lot of late transmissions all they use is silicone. if they did change the seal then may be it is the gasket/oring.
