Exhaust arrow of the TFC for the R3 motorcycle

The only difference between the arrow exhaust and the standard exhaust is the pretty covers that say Arrow. The exhaust "box" is identical. You can see the exhaust box being modified in this video -

.....they are not exhausts just metal bits to cover the exit pipes....the exhaust is in the cat box. To change this you need to eliminate the cat box and start again.

...and... i have been on my knees out there today taking them off and adjusting the bolt holes...bending the plates to try and make them fit neater since i have added the new boom box...they never seem to go back on exactly the same!...grrr...you need girl hands to fit into a couple of those awkward spots they put bolts in!...no wonder theyre assembled in Thailand where their hands are small......no good if your hands are xl like mine!

Well this is not what I was told by the factory rep. Have I been lied to or was he mistaken?

If you take a close look under/around the "Mufflers" you will see that the outlet pipes are welded to the box.
The Carbon covers are simply attached to the outside.
There is no removing the mufflers as such.

With due respect Doc, i dont know what the rep told you.....but i have had my system rebuilt on my GT ..im thinking the TFC is the same as the GT and the R. If you look at the bottom photo of Paul's, you will see the wee bridge like bits...these are where the cover panels are attached which when assembled look like mufflers...the panels have small tongues which slide into these bridges...they have rubber grommets over them to stop the rattles...then there are small bolts which hold the panels tight.
I have spent a few hours i must say trying to get everything lined up to my satisfaction so it looks right.
Id'e be interested to learn if your system looks the same on the TFC.

I think you have to take a very critical look at what Triumph wants to make you believe are differences between TFC and stock. Making substantial and physical changes between both models - like a different exhaust/emission system - would have resulted in two separate and expensive homologation processes. Differences between the two models are mostly cosmetic, I am afraid.

I think time will tell. A lot of suppliers are playing "catch up" with Triumph on this (which is a shame on Triumph). There are no aftermarket products (that I can find) for the R3TFC, R3R, or R3GT.

I was looking for a K&N Air Filter to swap out the stock filter. Doesn't exist.

To get a handle on things, I was also looking for replacement brake pads, front and rear. Things to know when you get stuck in the middle of nowhere without a Triumph dealer nearby. No joy there either.

I suspect this will be true for seats, grips, exhausts, and other changeable parts.

I am glad to hear you called them and got a response! Maybe you put the idea in their head!
