Exedra Max + Michelin Commander 2 + GO PRO2

When I was in Arkansas last week, Speedfreak (who is a very knowledgeable mechanic, as well as a Rocket Captain) was running the same Bridgstone/Michelin combination.

Although he liked the handling, he noted that there is an overall loss of ground clearance with the smaller front (even with the bigger rear).

Not great input given that the Exedra Max raises the rear by .48" and the Commander II lowers the front by about .215". I'd say that the ground clearance issue is a non-issue for nearly anyone.

I've ordered my Michelin for the front, already have the Exedra Max on the rear, looking forward to the difference. Now just the waiting game for the shop to phone me back when it comes in.

Is that Exeedra a special version B'stone came out with for you Aussies???:D:D

Do let us know what you think once you've had a chance to scuff 'em up a bit!

I see you're awake Phil. I love the deeper tread on the Max and filling the guard a bit more....yes yes yes, thanks to you ;) Shop did say a couple of weeks to get in the Michelin. Will let you know.

I think it is actually up 0.47 in. @ rear & down 0.445 in. @ front

But that is with the bike standing verticle....

I don't know exactly how things change with the bike leaned over close to its lean limit.

Not only is the front a smaller diameter but it's more narrow.

I was surprised that he claimed a noticeable loss of clearance....but that was what he told me...just passing the info along.

It makes no difference that I miscalculated the front tire height (my bad, though) but it is notable that what you are passing along is second-hand, unverified information, Ogre. Maybe you could get you pal to post up here and share his experience directly. Perhaps he's made some other changes, such as to his suspension, etc. , which have affected his geometry/ground clearance adversely.

As I have stated previously, I am an aggressive rider that spends most of my riding time in the twisties, I have no chicken strips whatsoever on this combo - I use every bit of these tires' treads - and I have not noticed any adverse effect on the ride with this set up. Fact is, it has improved the ride, the bike's handling and responsiveness and, consequently, my own safety, have been enhanced very considerably and whatever change has resulted on my bike re: ground clearance, it has had zero noticeable effect on dragging parts or any other important aspect of rider safety to this rider.
